NNPC Debunks Claims of PH Refinery Mismanagement

THE NIGERIAN National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has dismissed allegations made by one Timothy Mgbere, a self-proclaimed “community person,” regarding the operations of the Port Harcourt Refinery.

In a detailed statement issued on Friday, the NNPC refuted claims suggesting the recent restreaming of the refinery and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) truck-out were staged.

NNPC clarified that the Old and New Port Harcourt Refineries share integrated infrastructure, including a single terminal for product load-out, contradicting Mgbere’s assertion that the truck-out occurred at a different gantry.

The corporation stated that both refineries share storage tanks and utilities, making such claims baseless.

Addressing the claim that the refinery produces 1.4 million barrels per day, NNPC corrected this, noting its actual nameplate capacity is 60,000 barrels per day, currently operating at 90 per cent throughput.

This capacity yields 1.4 million litres of PMS, alongside diesel and kerosene.

The NNPC urged the public to disregard the misinformation, describing Mgbere’s remarks as ignorant and mischievous.
