Trump Plans Over 200 Executive Orders to Reshape U.S. Policy on Day One

SWEEPING POLICY changes are expected to dominate the early days of Donald Trump’s presidency as he prepares to be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.

During a rally in Washington on Sunday, Trump pledged bold action on immigration, trade, and energy, highlighting a flurry of executive orders to undo policies enacted by the outgoing administration.

“The American people gave us their trust, and we’re going to deliver the biggest first 100 days in history,” Trump declared to supporters gathered at the Capital One Arena.

The rally featured speakers such as UFC CEO Dana White and Trump’s sons, Donald Jr. and Eric.

It also served as a celebration of his election victory and a preview of his administration’s agenda.

Trump’ affirmed his plans to sign over 200 executive actions, addressing border security, energy expansion, and government reforms.

These include reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy, lifting restrictions on oil drilling, and imposing sweeping tariffs on imports, including a 60% levy on Chinese goods.

Critics argue these measures may lead to legal battles and economic repercussions.

Trump also vowed to repeal executive orders issued by the Biden administration, calling them “radical and foolish.”

Immigration reforms will take centre stage, including an unprecedented deportation programme and the controversial proposal to end birthright citizenship, which experts note would require constitutional amendments.

Additionally, Trump pledged to close the U.S.-Mexico border on health grounds and resume construction of the border wall.

Energy policies will see significant reversals as Trump plans to scrap green energy initiatives, ban wind projects, and expand fossil fuel drilling.

He also hinted at a second withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, a move environmental advocates strongly oppose.

In the tech sector, Trump addressed concerns about Chinese-owned TikTok.

The app briefly went offline in the U.S. on Sunday due to a pending ban unless sold by its current owners.

Trump signaled he would approve its continued operation only if U.S. investors control at least 50% of the company, framing it as a move to safeguard national interests.

Trump’s corporate allies, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, are poised to play prominent roles in his administration.

Musk, slated to head the Department of Government Efficiency, joined Trump on stage, emphasising plans to streamline government operations and replace thousands of federal employees with Trump-appointed officials.

While Trump’s rally energised his supporters, questions remain about potential tensions between his populist base and corporate partners.

Analysts suggest conflicting priorities may emerge over policies such as tech worker visas and trade tariffs.

As Trump prepares to take office on Monday, he discloses that his agenda would set the stage for contentious debates and challenges, both domestically and internationally.

Analysts also note that the coming days will reveal whether his sweeping promises will materialise or face obstacles in implementation.
