DELTA STATE Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, on Wednesday in Asaba, signed the state’s 2025 Appropriation Bill into law, marking a significant step towards the state’s continued development.

The approved budget, totaling N979.22 billion, is divided into N630.46 billion for capital expenditure and N349.77 billion for recurrent expenditure.

The Governor expressed his satisfaction with the swift passage of the budget, which he described as a “Budget of Fiscal Consolidation.”

He highlighted the reduction in recurrent expenditure and the increase in capital allocation compared to the 2024 budget, stating that this would support the completion of ongoing projects and new developments in the state.

He also assented to the Southern Delta University, Ozoro, Establishment Amendment Law 2024, which changes the university’s name to Southern Delta University, enabling it to accredit more courses and increase student intake.

Other bills signed include laws on human trafficking, special cases courts, and protections for persons with disabilities.

The governor praised the legislature for its swift work and reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing infrastructure, economic stability, and human capital development.
